The olfactory
cultural movement

Since its founding in 2016, Nez, the olfactory cultural movement, has established itself as a leading authority in the world of perfume and olfaction, both in France and internationally.

Its founders — Jeanne Doré (Editorial Director), Mathieu Chévara (Creative and Development Director), and Dominique Brunel (Commercial Director) — have assembled a multidisciplinary collective of experts (journalists, scientists, perfumers, historians, artists, and more) united by the mission to reveal, in accessible and meaningful ways, the richness of a sense long overlooked.

Acting as a true catalyst within the perfume industry while staying connected to the general public, Nez sits at the heart of a vast network that brings together manufacturers, institutions, events, brands — and all passionate devotees of olfactory culture.

PERIODICALS

NEZ, the olfactory magazine

Published in both French and English, it is distributed in France and worldwide through bookstores, concept stores, independent perfumeries, and online.

While perfume—from plant to bottle—is a central theme, the magazine also explores all areas of life where our sense of smell plays a role: art, health, science, through an approach that is at once analytical and critical, anthropological and historical.

DIGITAL

Nez’s digital presence is expressed through two websites with complementary purposes.

The online MAG' (FR/EN)

Complementing Nez magazine, Mag by Nez regularly offers online interviews, opinion pieces, thematic reports, and an events calendar focused on olfactory culture. It is available in both French and English.

Auparfum

Since 2007, Auparfum has been the leading French website for perfume reviews, bringing together a community of enthusiasts—some of whom have become regular contributors. It features hundreds of reviews, including those from Nez magazine, as well as news and thematic reports.

PODCASTS

Launched in November 2021, Podcasts by Nez has become the go-to audio destination for olfactory culture, infused with the themes that have defined the success of our editorial projects. From in-depth interviews with key industry figures to Smell Talks—which give conferences and panel discussions a life beyond their in-person audiences—and brand profiles, Podcasts by Nez has also been offering episodes in English since 2024.

Events

Events organized by Nez embody the very DNA of our movement. Positioned between trade shows and festivals, they aim to showcase the diversity of stakeholders while redefining how these players interact with each other and connect with the public.

PARIS
PERFUME WEEK

Launched in 2024, this annual event brought together nearly 4,000 visitors during its second edition, featuring around 50 niche brands and fragrance houses, 32 Smell Talks (panel discussions, conferences, masterclasses), over 20 workshops, a major exclusive exhibition, and a rich off-site program.

The 2026 edition, set to take place at the Palais Brongniart—an iconic venue in the heart of Paris—will offer an opportunity to explore new territories even further.

GRASSE
PERFUME WEEK

From one capital to another. This new event takes place in the historic birthplace of modern perfumery: Grasse and the surrounding region. Building on the key elements that made the Paris edition a success, Grasse Perfume Week is a celebration of perfume and the diversity of olfactory cultures around the world.

SHANGHAI
PERFUME WEEK

In October 2025, Nez will present an unprecedented event in China: Shanghai Perfume Week. Integrated into the heart of the Notes Shanghai trade show, it will bring together around twenty partners (brands, fragrance houses, and more) from diverse backgrounds to take part in an already major event in Asia. A dedicated exhibition on natural ingredients, conferences, and an off-site program will complete the experience.
